Hi there, in this tutorial I’ll show you how to decorate a t-shirt with stencils: it’s very easy and funny, perfect for customize your t-shirts and refashion the old and boring ones you’ve got in your wardrobe!
Supplies:
– old t-shirt;
– colors for fabrics (you can find them in paint shop);
– stencil or frezeer paper;
– sponge;
– cardboard or old newspaper;
– decorations (tulle, buttons, sequins…);
Before starting, put the cardboard in the t-shirt, in this way we avoid painting the other side. Fix the stencil on the shirt with adhesive tape; dab the shape with the sponge soaked of color.
Leave the color drying in the air for few hours, then decorate the back side of the t-shirt.
If you don’t want to by a stencil shape, you can do it your self using freezer paper. What’s better? Plastic stencil or paper stencil? My advice is: it depends! A plastic stencil is ready to use and you can wash it with water and recycle it many times; the paper stencil is cheaper, but you can use it only once, then you have to throw it away! The decision depends on your project but the results is the same! If you decide to use freezer paper just press the shape with iron on the fabrics and start painting!
Now let’s think about decorations! Your t-shirt can be already done, but I like 3D effects, so I want to prepare skirts with tulle for my little dancers! 🙂
Sew the skirts on the t-shirts and your project is finished! Hope you enjoy! 🙂
