The Gothic Lolita style borns in Japan but tries to emulate the occidental Victorian fashion. Nowadays it is one of the most famous trends among Japanese young people, and now it is taking root also in Italy above all between comics and japanese culture lovers.
With this tutorial I will show you how to realize your own Gothic Lolita head dress to show off to the next comics exhibition, Halloween or costume party!
Supplies:
– black fabric (I used stretch cotton);
– 1,5 m of black and white lace ribbon;
– 1 m black satin ribbon (height about 1 cm);
– 1,5 m white satin ribbon (height about 1,5 cm);
Cut 2 rectangles 25 x 10 cm, take one of them and, on the right side, fix, all around the edges, the white lace ribbon making folds every 2 or 3 cm. Baste and put it aside.
Now take the other fabric rectangles, fix the white satin ribbon in zig-zag, alternating the 2 sides every 5 cm. Try to obtain the same effect that you can see in the images. Repeat again and baste it all around.
Halve the black satin ribbon, fix it at the edge of the little side. This ribbon is used to close the head wear under the chin or behind the neck.
Overlap each other the 2 rectangles and sew along the perimeter. Keep one side open in order to turn over the head dress.
This is how it looks when you’ll have turned over the project. Close the open side folding the edges inward. Now you just have to make 2 bows with the white satin ribbon and sew them on the head dress.
Here you are, now your new Gothic lolita head dress is finished! Hope you enjoy it! 🙂
